You no longer need to have created a Rebrickable account before you can buy a Premium MOC. This should make it easier for off-site users to buy MOCs. When a guest makes a MOC purchase, a guest account is created for them. The difference is that these guest accounts cannot be logged in until they are activated into "real" accounts, which can be done after purchasing.
When attempting to buy a Premium MOC without being logged in, you are prompted for an email address. If an account with that email doesn't already exist, a guest account is created with usernames like guest-123456. The buyer has 1 week to download the file(s) before the account is disabled. They are encouraged to activate the account during this timeframe to not lose access and become a "real" account.
Naturally, all the existing fraud/piracy prevention checks in place work just as well on these guest accounts as the "real" ones.
Why does the access expire after only 1 week? That is not enough time!
Rebrickable takes fraud/piracy seriously, and the timeframe is in place to help keep MOC instructions secure. If you want more time to download your MOC instructions, the best thing is to activate your guest account into a real account. Please click the Activate Account link in the email.
Ok fine, I activated my account, but now the download link doesn't work!
The download links are only needed for guests to download the files without logging in. Once your account is activated these links will be disabled and you can download the files directly from the MOC page or by clicking Account > MOC Purchases once logged in.
Help! I didn't realise guest accounts expire and have lost access to the MOC instructions, what can I do?
